The new captain

Tessa walks into the 7th division barracks hoping that no one will give her crap. She had wondered why no one had picked her for a division until she was approached and taken somewhere to be tested. She was surprised to be made a captain and accepted in an attempt to avoid being rude. As she walks by everyone they look at her in awe and surprise since she is wearing a captain's haori and looks younger than any of them.

She smiles and nods but continues on to her office to see if anything needs to be done there. Although she wasn't expecting a mountain of paper work and such a large office. She sits down at the desk and tries to figure out the paper work so she can maybe figure out how she wants everything arranged in the near future.

Markus was an older looking captain a man who had proven himself threw years of service. There was no doubting the captain of the fourth squad, and so naturally when he had heard that there was a new captain of squad seven he went to go welcome her. seventh squad was the second line of defense, where the 11’th failed they were there to pick up the slack. But when it came down to it they were polighter then the brutes of eleventh squad.

Markus entered the captains office and smiles. He lookes like a reputable man around the age of twenty one. he lookes around oddly for a moment, not seeing a captain. “um excuse me little girl I am captain Nearmont of the fourth squad. I heard there was a new captain around and I was wondering where she is?”

'Hello captain Nearmont, I am captain Testarossa but you can call me Tessa if you want. I just started today but I don't know exactly what I can do yet. I got out of the academy only a couple months ago. You can imagine my surprise when instead of being picked to join a division I was put in charge of one. Still I will have to do my best and make sure we can back up the 11th if needed. Although I still have to work on my bankai. Aside from that how are things going with your division? Do you need help with anything? You know carrying things anywhere and such?" Tessa looks at Markus waiting to hear what he has to say.

Markus eyed the little girl he was supprised to say the least that she was so small. Still he had meet people with bodies of children in the past who were far older then him. it was all about natural vs death. “Fresh from the academy? Do you at least have bankai?” he laughed of course the captain had bankai it was mandatory unless, he suddenly had the image of a young femail kenpachi, which scared him.

Markus seemed Impressed with her after all it had taken him fifty years to become the captain of squad four. And she had become a captain as a fresh recruit it was not something to scoff at. Something told him that she was a unique specimen.

"Yes I do, but to be honest I can't use it very well yet. I barely discovered it in secret before graduating, and well I had to show it off during the test. They had said something about seeing something similar once though.I suppose I could show it to you sometime if you want me to? Besides I need someone to train with really, I hear it's easier to improve if someone with bankai trains you." Tessa smiles and her kindness is obvious. Although she also seems to have some confidence despite the fact she believes it is likely she might be filling in for someone better qualified.If not than she will do her best to perform the functions expected of her. "By the way they didn't exactly cover the paper work in the academy, could you help with it? At least enough for me to do it on my own any way?"

Markus smiled “my bankai isn’t one that I can use to train people with sorry to say, and even if it was I couldn’t first part of squad four do no harm. I cant even kill a bug, let alone unleash my bankai to train someone.” markus shrugged as he walked behined the desk so he could see some of the paperwork.

Markus looked at the stuff most of it was troop placement stuff. It was the type of thing you learned in the service as a seated member. “you weren’t taught it because this wasn’t stuff you were supposed to worry about fresh out of the academy this is the type of stuff that you learn to work with. But here let me try and help.”

Markus begins to attempt to explain what each individual form means, breaking them down to three categories and what to do with them. he had done most of his work on casualty reports and injury stuff so he knew his way around a sheet of paper and did his best to explain it in detail.

Tessa watches and learns, she quietly pays attention to everything Markus says. As Markus shows her how to do the paper work he can almost see her mind working on the knowledge rapidly. "I see so that 's what everything means? That makes perfect sense now, thank captain Nearmont. I think it might have taken me much longer without your help. Still at the very least I could show you my bankai sometime. Even if you can't train me directly I suppose having you watch me might be good enough, at the very least you can possibly tell me where I need to improve I suppose." Tessa smiles and pauses "I was wondering, how about a meal between fellow captains? Maybe we can become good friends, what do you say captain Nearmont?"

Markus smiled “I may not be able to train you in the ways of bankai but I know a captain who can, and I would be glad to introduce you to him, and as to your offer for a meal id be glad to accept.” Markus stood back from the captain and patted his stomach, for some reason ever since he had attained shikai he had been eating more and more, it was like he ate for two, and yet it never showed.

Markus began to walk slightly waiting by the door. “So Tessa a word of advice for you, the soul society is rather quite and since we don’t have access to the human world, some have gotten rather lazy, try not to let your squad fall behined.”

"Has anyone tried working on fixing that? When I went into the academy they said we were supposed to be deployed to protect the world of the living. And yet they never told us about that problem. Although I suppose that was a smart decision. Most of those I knew only joined to see the world of the living, if they knew no one could get there they would have never joined the academy. Still I thought they were much more talented than me" Tessa walks up to Markus and is prepared to follow him. "Where exactly would you like to eat? Your division, here or somewhere else?"

Markus sighed “hanatan taicho has been working on a solution to our bridge problem for about five years, and unfortinatly she has made little progress some have started to give up hope, I personally am just more interested in what will happen once we get the human world.”

Markus began to walk out of the office and into the gardens. “your squads cafeteria will do fine for a meal don’t you think? But there is one small problem I don’t really have any money. So I hope you don’t mind if you pay for the meal?”

Tessa sighs "I guess not, but I don't have any money either. I just started today, in fact I barely sat down more than a few minutes when you showed up. This whole captain thing is extremely new to me. I don't even know how to address the others yet. I mean do I just say hello I'm your new captain, don't make beat you up for failing? Or do I just say hi lets do our best to succeed and back up the 11th division? It's not as easy as some of my friends imagined it to be. Besides even though I want to do my best and make the 7th as strong as possible, I don't want to out do the 11th. They do a good job even if most of them are kind lacking in intelligence at times." Tessa laughs and wonders how the whole pay thing works.

Markus rolled his eyes at the mention of the eleventh squad they were brutes that was all, large brutish things that came into his squad and started fights in the infirmary. He hated the eleventh and he was no friend of there captain. “In the pressense of the fourth squad captain you may not want to mention the eleventh squad we are not known for getting along, and I have to say that I have many feelings for the eleventh none of them positive.”

Markus smiled as she said she had no money. “that’s fine here ill pay.” Markus brushed along side a young woman from the 7th squad lightly turning away from her and bowing appoligizing for clumsiness as he turned away he reached into his pocket and produced the womans wallet. “I have many ways of pocuring funds even if I managed to leave my wallet at home.”

Tessa's left eye twitches as Markus picks the pocket of one of her squad members. "I would thank you to at least not do that right in front of me please? What I don't see I can't hold against you, but to do it in front of me is just uncalled for. How about you just promise to pay for it when you can and that will be good enough? Also please return that as soon as possible please. I doubt she likes being broke to feed you or I. Besides as a captain I must protect my people." Tessa looks at Marku with a look of no I am not going to back down on this no matter who are or think you are look on her face.

Markus smiled and merely pocketed the wallet. He said nothing more on the matter of the wallet seeing the look in the child captains eyes. In truth he did not like stealing, it was a skill he had learned a long time ago in what felt like another lifetime, and it wasn’t something he kept around, but for some reason he had used the skill and now there was some woman without a wallet. But she wasn’t from his squad so why did he care.

“Okay heres a deal then you say that your fresh from the academy as a captain that means your skills aside from zanjutsu are probably pretty weak, so I make an offer to you, want the wallet, take it from me.” Markus couldn’t train her in the way that she wanted but that didn’t mean he couldn’t teach her a lesion or two. “Lession one is simple and covered in the academy its self, flash step. Catch me and ill give you the wallet.” Markus stood back and breathed for a moment his flash step was powerful considering his time with second squad. And when he took off it left a gust of wind in his wake.

Tessa shunpos after Markus as fast as she can in an attempt to catch him, although she isn't certain she can but she does her without holding back. If she catches him she will be very surprised, however she will try to hide it from him if she can. Although she suspects ulterior motives behind this. She keeps her guard up just in case. She also pays close attention to everything Markus does in an attempt to figure him out.
