The new captain

Markus turns back and smiles as she shunpo’s after him Markus sticks out his toungue as she gets close and then shunpo’s again launching himself backwards even further. “the trick is in your stance remember that! shunpo is all about your stance and your path way navigating by spiritual energy and controlled boosts. If you can master these tricks then you will have no problem keeping up.”

Markus’ smile said that there would be more to it if she truly wanted the wallet but for now she needed to focus on trying to catch him.

Tessa's eye twitches again and she leans into the shunpo as she makes her next attempt to catch Markus. She tries to go farther with this shunpo than the last one in an attempt to do better. She doubts she will catch an experienced captain but she knows she has to try. The odds are against she feels, but to back down from a challenge is not acceptable. She has to do this for her division if anything else.

This time she came closer her hand outstretched as she came close enough to her goal only to have her hand moved to the right of him, and a punch sent to Tessa’s gut it was a light punch he wasn’t trying to hurt her, only show her that she was open. “Shinigami art number two hakkudo.” Jace smiled a light smile as his punch became a push to send her backwards.

He breathed taking up a stance. “Did I say that in order to get the wallet you had to catch me? sorry what I should have said is you have to hit me. and don’t worry I wont go easy on you because you’re a girl. Ill go easy on you because you’re short.” markus was mostly teasing her, and in all reality he hated doing this but he needed to see if she could handle herself.

Tessa gets knocked back and she hears what Markus said. The revelation that she was correct as there being more to this than he first said doesn't surprise her. "I thought as much, to simply catch you made no sense. Besides you shouldn't go easy on me at all. The simple fact is your just too tall." Tessa Shunpos to his left and is ready with a counter ad strike of her own. Both of her hands are in position to defend as she aims a kick at Markus's left shin.

Markus smiled seeing her come to his left with incredible speed, the kick was good her form was excellent but her footing, she only had one foot to the ground and with out a hand supporting her, her balance was off. Markus’ hand shot down and caught her foot and then adjusting for her weight flung her foot upwards in an attempt to send the smaller captain head over heals.

Markus seemed to smile but in all truth there was no joy in this training. He was basically beating up another captain just so he could know that she could protect her squad, and so far she was keeping up, but it wasn’t something he wanted to see, he wanted to see her win not her keep up.“Balance woman if you focus on defense and attack you’re going to loose both, defend with your arms and punch, duck down and kick. your small use that to your advantage.”

Tessa smirks when he grabs her foot, she uses that to her advantage and kicks at his arm with her other foot as he tries to fling her away. She puts everything into trying to connect with that kick. She focuses on using her hands to right herself with a flip and than charge in again to launch a flurry of punches using shunpo to seemingly surround him. Each time she throws a punch and shunpos to a new location as rapidly as she can. She decides to try putting Markus on the defensive and see if he likes being toyed with.

Markus saw her technique and he knew she couldn’t keep it up for ever. His stance changed when he realized that she was trying to make him go for defensive and with a simple move he grabbed a bottle of some liquid. He shunpo’d out of the range of most techinuqes and punches focusing on dodging instead of blocking. The bottle of liquid in hand he smiled. “if I may give you a history lesion for a second, in martial arts there are many different styles the one that I use is a consept from an old Chinese style of martial arts, have you ever heard of Zui Quan before?”

Most people hadn’t, it wasn’t a style that deserved any real respect or one that most people would have feared it was actually rather mocked. Zui Quan translated to drunken boxing, and markus was a master in its art, when drunk at least. Still after years of using it he is immune to most alcohol, but he always kept a bottle of the good stuff, or at least the liver killing stupid stuff that no one with out alcohol tolerance should ever touch. Un corking the bottle the room was filled with the powerful smell of alcohol. Markus smiled as he continued to dodge and then finally blocked holding down on her hand, as he grabbed it.

Tessa pants as while looking at Markus. "What are you talking about? This is only happening because you decided to pick the pocket of one my squad members. To be honest this Im starting to get tired of it. If your going to change tactics than it only makes sense I do the same." Tessa raise her other hand and yells out "Hadou #1 Sho!" At this range Markus could still dodge despite the fact he is drinking something, but Tessa is hoping to at least knock him back a bit and possibly cause his foul smelling drink to shatter on the ground.

Markus smiled lightly as he saw the kido unfortinatly it wasn’t something he could defend against in time and the drink in his hand spilled, there was now to little of it to be off any real use. He sighed it looked like there would be no demonstration of zui quan today. still she hadn’t hit him yet. But the kido was going to be something he couldn’t teach her. “you win I was only trying to teach you a lesion any way.”

Markus tossed Tessa the wallet. Not really knowing what else he could say. He was just kind of beaten he had no skill in kido, and her using it against him, had actually kind of hurt. it showed him that he had a few things he needed to improve upon. “any way lets move on shall we.”

Tessa catches the wallet "How can stand that stuff? It smelled horrid, you'll never catch me drinking anything like that. It kills brain cells and to be a captain you need to keep such things from happening. Besides I didn't hit you yet." Tessa walks up to Markus and smacks him in the arm gently. "I'll ask you not to pick the pockets of my squad again. At least not in front of me. What I don't see is none of my business. Agreed? I can't stop you from doing such things, I merely ask that you don't do it where I can see it." Tessa sighs and looks into Markus's eyes.

Markus shrugged “I haven’t stolen in almost 400 years, to tell you the truth I hate using the skill but I needed to see if you were ready to go up against a captain class enemy. Sorry for angering you but it was the only way to know.”

Markus smiled. “ive worked with alcohol for so long that I cant really smell it any more. For a while it was just a part of my life. If it weren’t for my skill in zui quan I would probably have been retired forcibly for the habbit. Now adays im not as bad only using it when I need to fight, but when it comes down to it I used to be vary different. Now adays I am a healer and I would rather stay that way… always remember alcohol is a foul substance, and unless your smart with it, could easily ruin your life.”

Tessa sighs "I just got out of the academy not so long ago, I may be a captain but it should be obvious I have a long way to go before I can handle someone like you. Getting a start on bankai in the academy,even though I kept it secret. Or rather thought I had, doesn't equate to being able to fight another captain. I would imagine I was selected to be a captain merely because you had need for them. Considering the amount of squads that don't have a captain it makes sense to fill those spots with those you consider suitable even if only for awhile right? On the job training is often an effective way to improve, However it can also have nasty side effects as well. But isn't that what life is about? Going through everything around on a hit or miss basis?"

Tessa sighs again "Lets get the food now. I'm sure there is some way you can start a tab or something. Hell use your division treasury if you need to. Besides I have no idea if you even have to buy your food in your own division. I really don't know how it works. I will rely on the other captains for advice and help, but remember I am here to assist you as well. Soul Society can't be strong if we all go around show boating right?"
