Apperance: Black shaggy hair, stands at about 5'9", skinny, but with some obvious muscles.
Personality: Many people think Akio is somewhat slow, even stupid, but he is anything but. He often gives slow responses due to thinking carefully about what his response should be, even to fairly simple questions. He is always looking for the best way to accomplish things, but sometimes takes too long and looses the opportunity to give his opinion, others taking charge. Akio, being a bit of a pushover, and not liking to talk over people or cause confrontations, lets it go, even when his plan was better.
In battle, it can be even worse. He can do basic sword fighting without worry, but when given the chance to not be in the midst of things, it can take him a while to make a move. Still, when he does make it, it usually has a high chance of success.
Zankpakuto
Zanpakuto Name: Hayato
Zanpakuto Spirit Apperance: A falcon, that can change size between a normal falcon or one larger then a person
Zanpakuto Spirit Personality: Hayato is very arrogant, thinking of Akio as unworthy to wield him. Unlike other relationships between shinigami and zanpakuto, from an outside perspective it would seem as though Hayato is actually in charge, as Akio frequently has to ask for help, rather than command it.
Zanpakuto Realm: A deep forest.
Un-released State: Standard katana, hilt is a light brown.
Call out Phrase: Fly, Hayato!
Shikai State: The zanpakuto turns into a boomerang, standing about a foot tall. The inside of the curve is sharp, and the outside curved.
Shikai Powers: When thrown, Akio has limited control over the path the boomerang takes. He can cause it to turn up to 90 degrees, four times per throw. (He can use two of these charges to make it turn 180, have it turn 90 degrees four times, ect). After the four charges are used, or if Akio wills it, the boomerang will return to him.
Aiko can also change the shape of the boomerang between the 1 foot size, and an 8 foot sized boomerang (no in-between), but it requires concentration if he is not touching it, and he cannot change the size rapidly.

History: Akio was from one of the mid districts of Soul Society. Not the lowest, but nowhere near the highest or the best off. Still, things were peaceful, for the most part, and sometimes he would even see a Shinigami, once every few months. Akio had long dreamed of becoming one, to walk down the streets of his district and hear the crowd ooh and ahh over him, like it was some sort of parade. Instead, people talked down to him, thinking he was slow, and it frustrated him to no end. Finally he decided to put an end to it, to live his dream, and join the Academy.
At the Academy, his classmates quickly established opinions of him similar to how his neighbors had thought of him. His teachers thought of him as a failure, admiring his persistence, but annoyed with his slow progress. The one thing that kept him from getting kicked out of the Academy was the fact that every test he scored perfectly on.
One of the teachers noticed the difference between his tests and his other performances and started testing him, giving him complicated problems and scenarios. Akio always had an answer, even if it took him a little while to decide on it. The teacher realized he was a tactical genius, and Akio's studies shifted to enhance this aspect of him. Still, because every graduate of the Academy must learn how to fight with a sword, and at least a little kido, Akio set a record for the longest length of time in the Academy.
Full of hope on the day of his graduation, Akio sets off into the world of the Shinigami. Unsure what to expect, but knowing many adventures await him, he moves forward, finally fulfilling his dream.
Roleplay Sample:
Akio and three other shinigami ran around a corner, breathing hard. A cero blash hit the street next to where they had run right after the last of them had ducked into the alley.
"What do we do?" one of them asked.
The mission to eradicate a nest of hollows had not gone well. The information they had going in suggested a dozen or so hollows, and had not mentioned a Menos. Two of their number had already fallen, and the four of them were all that was left. Akio started to think, hard, peering out from the alley, eyes darting around rapidly.
"We need to fall back. Get a captain or something to come finish these guys off. We at least need some backup..." another shinigami said. "Akio, you are with me, right? That's the smart thing to do?"
Akio shook his head. "There are-"
"Why should we stay? We can't take a menos!" the shinigami interrupted.
"There are humans here." Akio said, eyes still darting rapidly, now taking in his companions, then back around the corner. "We cannot let them die. I have a plan. You two, go after the smaller hollows. The two of us will take the menos."
Akio quickly laid out his plan, though the other shinigami looked skeptical, they all agreed to it. They all jumped out, two slashing quickly at the surrounding hollow, and the third jumping into the air and firing a Shakkahō into the face of the Menos. The Menos remained unaffected, but just as it opened it's mouth and started charging a cero to destroy the shinigami, a large boomerang hit the side of it's head and cut clean through. There were a few moments before the Menos began to dissolve, but soon it was like it was not there at all. The boomerang flew back to Akio, who caught it easily, and it shrank back to normal size.
