Shinon cursed the heat of the desert he hated this place why was he here. He could have chosen to start his search in any place in the world, and yet he had chosen this fucking desert. It couldn’t have been a nice desert no he had to choose the one where he was being chased BY THE GAINT FUCKING SANDWORM. “Father the sleeper has awoken! Now someone fucking help me!”

Shinon turned and jumped backwards drawing forth his bow from the gloved hand and fired two shots that bounced off the gaint sandworms carapace. Great this works just fine for me. “Why did it have to be worms! It’s a hollow it could have been anything but no it has to be shiera!” he looked around as the thing tunnled under for a moment. Maybe it decided to leave him alone.

The ground shook violently as he was suddenly tossed up into the air like a lose rag doll as the sandworm hollow tore up from the ground underneath him. from here he could see the hole length of it. it looked like it was heavily plated brownish in color, if he didn’t know any better he would say that it was like one of those worms from the movie tremors.

He thought for a second feeling energy gathering it under his feet making a bridge to somewhere other then its mouth, and teeth.. what did a worm need with so many teeth. And as he flicked away to the ground he began to run again.

{Chapter One: A Darkness Within The Grasp Of The Light}

It had been quite some time since Franz had left Dretta in the hands of the Western Knights of Israel and sought out a secret fount of power within the desert areas surroinding the holy city. "I hope what I am told is true, or else this might be the end of me." Franz said to himself.

He was told that as a trial of true knighthood, he would have to traverse these deserts and save the "Man Of The Dying Light", and bring him back and in the process, Franz would find his own inner-light, granting in some form of more strength for the battles ahead. Albeit skeptical, Franz hadnt much choice in the matter, and wound up going on the trek anyway when the Western Knights High Council forced him to leave by threating Dretta's life, without her knowing at that.

"Those fools are powerful, and sadly I cannot defeat them all. Dretta, please wait for me, when I am finished here, I promise I will be back for you." He made the vow under his breathe as he continued onward through the desert. It wasn't long until he come across a massive spiritual presence and noticed it was emanating from not one, but -two- very powerful points of interest. Feeling them out, Franz noticed two distinct features about them: One of a Quincy, the other a very large hollow.

Knowing full and well that Dretta was looking for her own kind, he set out immediately to find the quincy, and assist if need be in taking down the hollow and saving the quincy's life. Rushing through the desert, he found the hollow, and the quincy it was trying to eat, and with a hollow chuckle, Franz said "Well, I guess it does take a knight to save the innocent these days after all." And with that, Franz leaped across the desert floor and landed on the hollows back right when it emerged, and dived his sword into it, damaging it enough to drive it back into the ground.

As the worm dived back underneath the sands, Franz was thrusted off of it, and as he rolled, he regained himself, looking around and trying to feel where it would strike next. "Oi, you, I can feel that you're a quincy, so don't bother trying to hide it from me monssieur, I believe we need to work together to kill it. My name is Franz, and I have another quincy you may be interested in meeting. So for now let's skip the other formalities and kill this damned creature!" Franz said as the worm rose from the ground yet again, Franz prepped for battle.

Shinon looked over at the other guy, and twitched slightly. where the hell did the French guy come from. Still even if he was French he had no intention of lying that he wasn’t some form of answer to his prayers even if he was… well he did just jump onto the gaint worm to try and kill it so clearly the man was insane. “Okay if you want to help then help but I can tell your French, so don’t go surrendering on me.”

He sheathed his bow for the moment it seemed that it just wasn’t doing enough, and drew the two other items he carried with him on his belt. Drawing in the spititual energy he brought forth two bright blue weapons that looked like something out of starwars. They were still rather small but that would change, right now they were the size of short swords. He looked over at the worm. “Okay human, you ready for this? Charge!”

Shinon took off running as he charged the worm. Leaping towards it he planned to run strait threw it, this plan however was foiled when it turned and ate him. seemingly swallowing the Quincy in one gulp. As the worm then turned towards Franz charging him.

Franz nodded at the quincy right as he drew what looked like two glowing short swords. A second afterward, the worm reappeared again, and the quincy did something even Franz would think was foolhardy; He charged right at it, and ended up being swallowed.

"Well, so much for saving him, guess I'll just have to kill it myself, but how..." Franz looked around him as the hollow started to shift towards him. Running away from it, zig zagging as much as he could to throw it's senses off, hopefully buying Franz a bit more time. After a moment of running around, the worm shifted away from Franz, and reared it's upper half out of the sand and opened it's mouth, letting loose some massive, tongue like limb, of which Franz saw as a weak point.

Letting loose the chain within the pommel of his sword, Franz threw it at the tongue, and used it a as grapple hook to draw himself closer and when he was within range, began slashing at the worms weak point, which promptly made it throw him off of itself, causing Franz to land several feet away and the worm to head back underground, but in a much less healthier state than before.

"Rinse and repeat I suppose." Franz said cracking his neck and rolling his shoulder. "Always these things happen to me. Wonder when I'll get to fight something not bigger than I am."

The worm burst back from the sand as it clibed up higher it suddenly lurched as a blue light seemed to rip threw the carcass then another splitting the worm in a full circle as Shinon jumped from the worm and landed on the ground.

Shinon seemed fine except for the amount of slime and acidic compounds on his flesh. the seele Schneider which absobe spirit energy that they cut seemed to extened into two meter long swords “… im not gonna tell you what I have just seen, just know that… I will have nightmares for the rest of my life.”

The worms remains seemed to twitch, and then it began to move regenerating in a way that only worms do. And soon there was no longer two gaint worm hollows, but two smaller but still quite big hollow worms. “mitoses? How is that fiar!”

Shinon glared at the two worms as one tunneled under and the other seemed to head strait for lou, making a b line for him. Shinon sat back and began cleaning himself off with a towel. “any chance you can keep those occupied this stuff is starting to itch.”

Franz couldn't believe what he just saw. The cojones on this quincy was astonishing, and the only person Franz could think of that could or would do something like that was some american jack ass he had met years ago. As the man climbed out and began to clean himself off, the worm halves grew themselves back, and instead of one worm, the duo found themselves now fighting two worms.

As the quincy asked rather calmly of Franz to keep the two worms off of him, Franz stood there for a second stunned at the request submitted to him. "Does he seriously think i can hold off two giant worms with that much ease? As the Man cleans himself at that. Bloody hell in heaven, I'll show you what a Frenchman can do!" Franz said as he dashed forward, now charging headfirst at the worm making a run for the quincy.

Right as it was about to emerge and swallow the quincy again, Franz leapt into the air and let his holy fire rage amongst itself, and as it grew, he plunged his sword right into the back of the creature, letting the fire rip it a new one as it raged right through the beast, burning i so hot that the sand texture of it's body turned to glass. Rearing up from the attack, the worm tried to bend over backwards on top of Franz, but ended up instead shattering itself into a thousand little pieces, and with that it died out, its remains turning to ash in the wind.

"How was that Quincy, still think the French are up to retreating?" Franz asked the man as the second worm prepared to attack again.

Shinon didn’t even stop to look up instead making sure that he was clean before he said anything. However he did take note that there was indeed only one worm left. “Yes yes that was a vary nice kick frenchy.” once he was clean he got up passing both selee schneiders into one hand he formed his bow.

He pulled back with both weapons using the selee schniders as they should be used arrows. “now watch a master Quincy destroy something.” he took aim at the last remaining hollow and let loose.

The result was the two arrows tore threw the hollow splitting its mask and driving down the center with an explosion as the spiritual energy in the two weapons was released with a violent effect. In the end there wasn’t enough left for mitoses to take place, and it too faded from earth.

Shinon walked up to the French guy as he put his bow away. “you said you knew a quincy? I am vary interested in meeting this one. In fact any and all quinces.” he looked at the French guy, he had proved himself for a french person. “I am Shinon wind runner.”

"Yes, yes I do know another quincy, but at the present moment, I cannot bring you to her, for unforseen circumstances deem that we cannot be together for some time." Franz said with a slight tone of anger in his voice. "It is a pleasure to meet you Shinon Windrunner, and I am sure in due time I will be able to introduce you to the quincy girl I had met. She's quite a looker as well. But for now, I think finding our way through this desert might work a bit better for now. And do I want to ask what a seemingly sane person would be doing out here?" Franz asked the quincy, seeing how being out in the middle of the worlds most unforgiving and hollow infested desert would be a death sentence, it made him wonder why a man who had no reason and whose kind was rare enough as is would be wandering around out here.

Then again, the fact that Franz practically came out here on his own free will, albeit with some "forceful negotiations" from his peers, made the thought a bit hypocritical.

Shinon looked at the French man and shrugged. “A sane man wouldn’t be out here at all, but I on the other hand have to pass threw. im traveling on my way to make a grand destiny. I travel to revive the quincy clan!” he began to walk towards the way of where the worms had been, searching he was only able to find one of his selee Schneider’s he shrugged at the loss of a powerful artifact and then walked away.

Shinon passed the French man who had yet to give his own name. “you are free to come with me if you want I travel now towards japan, and at the rate I have been going ill get there by… well you’ll see. Before I do anything I need to cross this desert.” Shinon didn’t wait for an answer he just continued walking. Leaving a light trail in the sand behind him

Franz looked at the quincy and noticed he had lost one of his glowing swords. Looking around Franz located the second weapon, barely sticking out of the sand, blending in with the shards of glass. Picking it up, he ran back over to the quincy and handed it to him, saying "You should keep your eyes a bit more open, this is yours. And in case you missed my name the first time, it's Franz. Franz Hernan Albert`, Knight Commander Of The Western Alliance Of The Jade Order. Pleased to meet you, man who wants to revive the Quincy Clan." And then it hit him. A Man Trying To Revive A Dying Light. A man trying to revive the light, spiritually based Quincy Clan!

Franz was amazed at how he had finally caught on to what the elders had meant, and even more glad that he had found the man he was looking for. "Oi, missiuer Shinon, May I make a request of you? To head back to the city of Jerusalem, to possibly meet up with another quincy and to introduce you to the Council Of Elders. I was sent out here to find a 'Man Trying To Save A Dying Light', and I believe that may be you sir." Franz said to Shinon, a bit of desperation in his voice.

Shinon blinked why did he suddenly have a sense of accomplishment that wasn’t there a moment ago. He shook it off this guy wanted him to go the other way. he couldn’t do that. “I cant go with you right now its in the wroung direction, and right now where im going is more important then a fellow Quincy. Although that pains me I must head in this direction thru the dessert.”

Shinon shrugged he wished he could go back the idea of meeting another Quincy possibly the only other Quincy and a female to boot. But something big was going on and he needed to go in this direction to find out what the hell it was. He needed to get to japan. He could feel that was a staging ground, and he needed to be there.

“now if you excuse me I must get to the other side of this desert before the sun kills us all. Again you can come with me but you will not detour me understand?” he smiled but there was a threat underneath his manners. He really did mean he would start shooting if this guy didn’t start moving. He didn’t care about where the man started moving he just didn’t have the time to stand around.

Franz was slightly upset at the mans decision, but knew he could not persuade him any different. He was set and hellbent on reviving his clan, and had set himself on his own path, of which Franz could not interfere with. Looking back towards the direction Jerusalem lied in, he thought about Dretta, and knew that if he went back emptied handed, it would only spell trouble for the both of them, and thinking further about his duties as a Knight, he then decided it would be best to follow Shinon for the time being to wherever he was going.

"You said you wish to revive the Quincy Clan, and my elders have sent me on a mission to find one such as you and aide you in your quest. For now, I will travel with you, and make sure you don't die or are otherwise unable to fulfill your duty. I Sir Franz, swear it." Franz said bearing his right hand across his chest and bowing to Shinon. But he had to let his peers know where he was going, and what he was doing, so in the minute that he had before they left, Franz pulled out a small device that resembled a phone in few ways, and began to type in a message into it.

"I have found the one you had described to me. I am following him now, to make sure he lives. Will not be able to return for quite some time. Watch over Dretta for me. - Commander Franz"

After he was done typing the message in, he closed the device and infused some of his energy into it, and it then emitted a faint, white light before shooting off into the sky and heading back towards the base within Jerusalem. "There, now my peers will know where I am now." Franz said walking back over to Shinon. "Let us go, and here, drink this, it'll make you less dehydrated" Franz said, handing Shinon a small bottle of specially mana-infused water. "Off to wherever you go. Take the lead sir."

Shinon grabbed the drink and refreshed himself. He made no real attempt to talk with franz. Instead he just tossed the water back to him. Shinon sighed, “I am guessing you’re a member of that crack pot organization? The hazel order?”

He didn’t even take another look as he began to walk in the direction away from the desert. It would take three days to get out of here, and for some reason he doubted that it would be an easy jorney something was telling him that it would take a while. “I need to get to japan, there are events about to unfold there that will soon shape the world, I can feel the rise in spiritual pressurs, and right now its telling me events are on the move again. that’s why at this moment I cant stop, even if its to meet with another quincy.”

"Such manners..." Franz thought to himself as he caught the water. "It's the Jade Order, and we're not crack pots, if anything you can call us saviors, even if it's half assed. And three days? No supplies and you're guessing three days it'll take us to get out of here. Light Bless Us...." Franz said as his voice lowered and he walked along with Shinon. The quincy may be a bit of an asshole, but he was still a human being, and gave off the vibe of a decent person. Nonetheless, the two would have to work together to get out of the hellish desert they were in, or else the scorching heat would kill them.

Then Franz thought a little. Shinon said he could sense that the world was shifting and going through odd peculiar stages with rises in spiritual pressure and he spoke as if he had an idea of where he was going. More so, this person was not going to stop for a damn thing until he got what he was after, and made sure it was completely within his grasp.

Franz admired it a bit.

"Alright then Quincy, if you think that there's such a thing occuring right now, then as a Knight of the Jade Order, I should accompany you. Also, as a human being, it wouldn't sit well with me to not see you out of here and safe elsewhere, as "safe" as "safe" may be these days." Franz said to Shinon. "And don't hold a grudge against me for not being a Quincy or someone not within the Jade Order. Not like it makes me evil or anything." He continued on, hoping to make some level of friends with Shinon.

Shinon walked not speaking, not even really noticing that franz was there. He could say that he was a human or a survivor all he wanted the jade order was nothing more then crack pots and weirdo’s they were too exentric and dangerous, some of them wielded powers that they just didn’t understand and none of them had any common ground, they were too diverse and clung to human military ways, still humans were only primitive because they were young when it came to spirit hunting, and he kind of hopped that they would get to age to the point where there was common ground.

It was a while before Shinon said anything. “tonight we will rest for only a few hours and then continue on under the moonlight, it will be more hospitable and we will have less of a chance of dying by chocking on our own swollen tongues, its how I was traveling until I had to run from that worm for a day and a half, it even managed to get my back pack.”

Shinon sighed hearing what the other said “Make no mistake human I don’t dislike you for not being a quincy, that’s not a crime I don’t trust you because all ive heard is that you help people because your bound to an order to do so, if that’s true you are not much better then a soldier, and so I don’t trust you. your order assigned you to protect me, good enough I can use back up in a dense hollow forest as much as anyone. How ever I don’t trust those who give orders.”
